ADVENTURE
CAVING
Adventure
Caving
is a whole lot of fun. The trips normally involve wading across
rivers or streams, squeezing in between rocks and crevices.
Swimming through underground rivers and getting covered in dirt.
Some
of Mulu’s caving trips require knowledge of technical rope work
(Single Rope Tecnique- SRT) as abseiling and climbing are involved.
Some of the more popular caves have been equipped with fixed
ropes on the short descents, climbs and traverse but some rigging
equipment SRT and climbing are useful. All adventure caving
require a certain degree of physical and mental fitness. Most
adventure caving expeditions are full day trips and some involve
overnight stays at jungle camp. For those cavers, they are advised
to bring their own caving equipment e.g. carbide lamps, helmets
and single rope technique (SRT) or can be rented from the National
Park.
