SANDAKAN

Strategically located at the mouth of one of the best natural harbours in this region; it was the prize much sought after by many forces during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The region had been best known for centuries for its pearls, camphor, bees' wax, sea cucumbers and edible birds' nests, attracting traders from nearby Sulu Sultanate and from as far as China. Sandakan was made its capital in 1884 and remained so until its total devastation by allied bombing at the end of World War 11 when the capital was transferred to what is now Kota Kinabalu.

Full Day Sepilok Orang Utan / City Tour

(Minimum of 2 persons)

Pick up from hotel to Kinabalu airport to board MH2042 ETD 0700 hrs to Sandakan. Meet at the Sandakan airport after fifty-five minutes. Proceed to Renaissance Hotel to join in with other guests. Tour departs and drives for approximately 30minutes to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. After arriving at the Rehabilitation Centre, proceed to Platform A to observe the feeding of Orang Utan. Then continue walk along a nature to see vegetation and animal life in the rainforest.

In the afternoon depart to Sandakan for lunch. After lunch city tour begins. The tour includes visits to observation Pavillion, Central Market Chinese Temple and Water Village. Transfer to airport for next flight.

2 Days 1 Night Turtle / Sepilok Orang Utan / City Tour

DAY 01 Sandakan / Selingan Turtle Island
Pick up from hotel to Kinabalu airport to board MH2042 ETD 0700 hrs to sandakan. Meet at the Sandakan airport after 55minutes. Proceed to Renaissance Hotel to join in with other guests. Depart to jetty for Selingan Turtle Island by speedboat. Cheek in chalet with basic facilities after arriving Turtle Island. Have a lunch at Cafeteria. Free at leisure, either go for swimming, snokerlling or a stroll around the Island in the afternoon. At night having a dinner, thereafter, watch the process of turtle laying eggs, transfer eggs to the hatchery and release of hatchlings to the sea. Overnight at chalet.

DAY 02 Selingan Turtle Island / Sandakan
Early in the morning after having breakfast, depart for Sandakan. Proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Centre from Sandakan jetty. Then proceed for a drive for approximately 30minutes to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. After arriving at the Rehabilitation Centre, proceed to Platform A to observe the feeding of Orang Utan and walk along a nature trail to see vegetation and animal life in the rainforest or watch nature video programme at the Nature Education Centre. In the afternoon, return to Sandakan for lunch. After lunch city tour will begins. Tour includes, visiting Observation Pavillion, Central Market Chinese Temple and Water Village. Transfer to airport for next flight.

Gomantong Caves / Kinabatangan River / Sukau / Sepilok Orang Utan Centre/ City Tour

DAY 01
Pick up from hotel for Kota Kinabalu airport to board MH2042 ETD 0700 hrs to Sandakan. Meet on arrival at Sandakan airport. Proceed to Renaissance Hotel. Proceed on a two hours drive passing Oil Palm Plantation to Gomantong Caves. At the Gomantong Caves, explore the largest bird's nest cave in Sabah. Depart for Sukau by the Kinabatangan River. Cruise up river and check-in to River Lodge. Lunch will be served. Then take a boat trip to view Porboscis Monkeys, birds and other wildlife until nightfall. Return back to Lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 02
Depart to Sandakan after breakfast. Arrive Sepilok Orang Utan Centre. Proceed to Platform A to observe the feeding of Orang Utan and walk along a nature trail to see vegetation and animal life in the rainforest or watch nature video programme at the Nature Education Centre. Return to Sandakan for lunch. Then a city tour begins. Tours include visits to Observation Pavillion, Central Market, Chinese Temple and Water Village. Transfer to airport for MH5475 ETD 1740hrs.

2 Days 1 Night Libaran Island Lodge Tour

DAY 01 Sandakan / Libaran Island
Pick up from hotel for Kota Kinabalu airport to board MH2042 ETD 0700hrs to Sandakan. Meet on arrival at Sandakan airport. Proceed to Renaissance Sandakan Hotel. Then, proceed to jetty and depart for Libaran Island by speedboat. At the Libaran Island, check in at accommodation with basic facilities and having lunch at Cafeteria. After lunch, snorkelling trip by boat to nearby islands (Rakit Island) or jungle trekking at Tikus Island. During this trip, megapod may be spotted in trail. Return to lodge for dinner and thereafter-optional night fishing around Libaran Island.

DAY 02 Libaran bland / Sandakan
Depart for Sandakan after breakfast. Arrive Sandakan and proceed to onwards excursion or drop off hotel/airport.

3 Days 2 Nights Danum Valley Tour

DAY 01
Pick up from hotel for Kota Kinabalu airport to board MH2084 FTD 0700hrs to Sandakan Meet on arrival at Labad Datu airport. Depart for Danwn Valley. If you are lucky, wildlifes may be spotted along the way. Cheek in at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, situated in the heart of Danum Valley Conservation Area. Trek in the oldest remaining rainforest in the world. Experience an exciting suspension walkway to wildlife. After dinner, night drive in an open jeep with a spotlight in search of wildlife.

DAY 02
After breakfast, proceed for nature walk and experience natural through undisturbed riverine and lowland dipterocarp forest. A good chance to photograph wildlife in this pristine jungle vegetation and unlimited bird watching of rainforest species. After having lunch in the afternoon, extended hike to look for Orang Utan, birds and other wildlife's along nature trails. Return to lodge. After dinner, slide presentation on wildlife, ecology and activities in Danwn Valley Conversation Area. Optional guided walk to salt lick observation points to see wildlife.

DAY 03
Bird watching in the morning before having breakfast. Then after breakfast, brief to the waterfalls, pools hike upstream and canopy walkway. Proceed to Labad Datu airport for evening flight to Kota Kinabalu or by road to Sandakan after lunch.
