Sibu, the main gateway to the numerous riverine towns and villages along the Rejang/Igan River and adventure travel is the second largest town in Sarawak. With a population of 200,000, Sibu is a thriving and modem town dominated by its busy and colorful waterfront. The majority Foochow community whose forefathers migrated from Southern China in the 18th century to escape poverty has made Sibu what it is today, a vibrant and bustling town whose contribution to the state's economy is evident besides timber and its shipbuilding industry. Some of the best qualities potteries are also produced here. The Iban and Malays form the other main racial groups.

It is generally accepted that eating out in Sibu is one of the cheapest in the state. Local Foochow 'Kong Bian', a type of bage! baked in tandoori type oven is a must. And so are 'Kang Muan' noodle and Foochow vermicelli served in clear chicken broth or in 'Pa Tin' herbal broth. Fresh seafood and game meat are widely available in restaurants and coffee shop restaurants, which numbers 152 in a 3km radius. Local fruits such as Durians, Borneo Longans and Oliver are seasonal products.

SIBU CITY/COUNTRYSIDE WITH LONGHOUSE TOURS

In the morning, depart from hotel for Rumah Sawai Longhouse, about 4Okm away from Sibu. After 15 minutes walk from the main road, arrive at Rumah Sawai Longhouse. Welcome by 'Tuai Rumah' and the Longhouse people with their traditional dance, called Ngajat and served with 'Tuak' (Iban rice wine). For those who are interested, you can also join the dance with the Iban dancer. On the way back to Sibu, visit the pottery factory. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant. After lunch then proceed to the Rejang Esplanade and the Seven-store Pagoda, to see the panoramic view of the Sibu Town. Then visit the Jubilee Park, a tourist resort about 7km from Sibu town. Enjoy the breath-taking hill climbing to the top and view the landscape of the Sibu town and lgan River. From the Jubilee Park, proceed to the Sibu Civic Centre to see Cultural Exhibition. You can see some of the cultural heritage and history of the Iban, Chinese, Malay and Melanau. Transfer back to the hotel.

2 DAYS 1 NIGHT RUMAH SAWAI LONGHOUSE

DAY 01
Proceed to the Rumah Sawai Longhouse, 4Okm from Sibu. The adventure starts with jungle trekking for about 1 and half-hours. Dinner will be served at the longhouse with traditionally cooked rice, meat and chicken in the bamboo (called 'Pansoh'). After dinner, you will be entertained by the traditional Iban dance called 'Ngajat' and served with 'Tuak(Iban rice wine) and also can join with the Iban dancer. Overnight at the Longhouse.

DAY 02
Breakfast in the Longhouse. Then tour around the longhouse will start after the breakfast. Transfer back to Sibu town.

2 DAYS 1 NIGHT SIBU / PLAGUS / ADVENTURE TOURS

DAY 01
Depart from Sibu for Pelagus Resort via Kapit early in the morning. Arrive at the Pelagus Resort at about noontime for check-in. Lunch will be served at the Resort. In the afternoon visit Rumah George Iban Longhouse by longboat. You will enjoy the welcoming ceremony at the Longhouse together with the Iban people in the longhouse together with Traditional dance called 'Ngajat' and 'Tuak' (Iban rice wine) will be served. You can also join the dancing with the Iban dancer. Return to Resort after visiting the longhouse for jungle trekking and shooting rapid by longboat, if time permitted. After having dinner at the Resort, free at leisure. Overnight at the Pelagus Resort.

DAY 02
After breakfast free at leisure until transfer from Resort to Kapit. At Kapit you can visit to the Civic Centre, Native Market, buy handicraft and Souvenir at the Kapit town by your own. Then depart Kapit to Sibu by high-speed express boat.

4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS SIBU / KAPIT / PLAGUS / ADVENTUIRE TOUR

DAY 01
Transfer from airport to hotel and then cheek in. After having a dinner at the local restaurant, tour at 'Pasar Malam'(Night Market).

DAY 02
After breakfast, visit to the Seven-storey Pagoda and Cultural Exhibition at the Civic Centre. Having a lunch at local restaurant then depart Sibu for Pelagus Resort via Kapit. Arrive Pelagus Resort in the afternoon for tea reception and going for jungle trekking. Return to Resort for a swim at the leisure pool before dinner. After having a dinner, free at own leisure. Overnight at Pelagus Resort.

DAY 03
After breakfast in the morning, visit Rumah George Iban Longhouse by longboat. Breakfast at the Resort early in the morning. Depart Pelagus Resort for Kapit. At Kapit, you can visit to the Civic Centre, Native Market, buy handcraft and Souvenir at the Kapit town by your own. Lunch is not provided in Kapit.

4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS SIBU / KAPIT / BALAGA REJANG RIVER SAFARI

DAY 01
Depart Sibu for Kapit by high speed Express boat and meet our representative at Kapit Warf. Proceed to the Resident Office to apply for permit. Then visit to the local Iban Longhouse with a brief introduction about their life style. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at a local hotel.

DAY 02
After breakfast, visit to the jungle product market. Then depart Kapit for Belaga via express boat or by speedboat if water level is too low. Lunch in Belaga town. Travel by longboat to Kejaman Longhouse. Dinner will he served at the Longhouse. Overnight in Kejaman Longhouse and entertained with dances. (Only for groups with >10 passengers).

DAY 03
After having breakfast in the morning, travel by longboat to visit three more ethnic tribes, (Kayan, Kenyah & Lahanan) living along the Rejang River in Belaga. Lunch will be at one of the Longhouse above. From Longhouse by longboat back to Belaga town, overnight at a local hotel. (Belaga) Dinner will be provided.

DAY 04
Breakfast in Belaga. Then proceed the tour by express boat or speedboat to Kapit. After lunch in Kapit, travel by express boat back to Sibu wharf to airport for your next destination.

4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS KAPIT / BALAGA / TUBAU / BINTULU TOURS

DAY 01
Transfer from hotel to wharf and by Express boat to Kapit. At Kapit proceed to the Resident Office to apply for permit. After lunch in Kapit town, sightseeing include Native Market. Dinner will be at a local restaurant. Overnight at a local in Kapit.

DAY 02
After breakfast, transfer by express boat from Kapit to Belaga. Arrive Belaga in the afternoon. Late lunch will be served in Belaga town. After lunch, Belaga sightseeing tour. Dinner at Belaga and overnight at a local hotel.

DAY 03
After breakfast in the morning, transfer by longboat from Belaga town to Kejaman Native Longhouse. Lunch at the Longhouse. After lunch visit the Longhouse. Dinner and overnight at Kejaman Native Longhouse.

DAY 04
Breakfast in Kejaman Native Longhouse. After that, transfer to one of their timber camp, travel overland by land cruiser on logging tracks to Tubau. After reaching Tubau take an express boat to Bintulu.
